Massive presets: Tutorial presets Original fret_1 presets Original Neuro Bass Hive presets containing WODAN Since the fret_1 video seems to be doing quite well on YouTube as well as Vimeo, we decided to complete the cycle by unraveling a bit of the production magic in three in-depth fret tutorials. In this first tutorial, Durk shows...

DIY Waterphone

[Update] Richard Waters, the inventor of the Waterphone was kind enough to point out the construction and sound of a real waterphone is very different (and a lot more work). Please visit Richards website here. Today I got an email about my EM411 article on making a DIY waterphone. I did not even remember posting it and was somewhat dumbfounded to find out the search query “DIY waterphone” on google delivers the article on the very top of the results. Maybe it’s because off em411′s SEO or because it’s a really...

Can’t open a preset in Massive? Good patch keeping practices

1. click file. 2. choose KSD convert Update: NI introduced a new format. Most of the presets floating on the interwebs are still in .ksd format at the time of writing. Luckily NI made it pretty easy to batch convert your old presets to the new format. simply go to file>batch convert ksd. After that you only need to select the right folder and all files will be converted. You’ll be prompted to choose where to store the files, replacing the old ones or in a fresh folder, leaving the old ones intact. Original Article (everything written down here applies to the new file...

Sound Design in FL Studio? Yes You Can!

Posted by on Nov 30, 2010 in Sound design, tutorial | 1 comment

I first started out making music in the 90′s on tracker software. First there was fastracker (2), later modplug etc.  While I see many disadvantages in working in FL studio on general Post production work, but for smaller games on platforms like the I-phone, flash-games etc there are some real pro’s to it. It’s loop based and thus ideal for working on a sound list saving multiple instances of...
